Next Big Thing!

We had a great time at The Next Big Thing in Jacksonville last weekend.  Twenty|One|Pilots and Paper Tongues were all we hoped they would be!  You gotta love a band who sets up their own encore. Check out some pics:

If Seth Were President

Seth informed me that If he were president he would be hilarious, because he would spend all day naked. I suspect there would have to be serious changes to our country's obscenity laws.

A Busy Last Week!

We had a busy week last week!  We visited Animal Kingdom with Mellissa's fam, Seth and cousin Austin had a great time together.  We went to the LeBlorr and Reptar show at The Social on Saturday, which was awesome, a super fun night we spent with Matt and Seth's Kindergarten teacher, Lindsay.  We had a whole 2 hours of sleep after the show before we got up to do the Koman Walk for the Cure Sunday morning, but we made it the whole 5k, it only took us an hour!  We visited Phineas & Ferb at Downtown Disney on Wednesday, then headed right back to House of Blues on Thursday to see Zeale, Imagine Dragons & AWOLNATION, they all killed it, a really awesome show!  We can't wait to see ID again in December!  Whew, we may need a vacation after this vacation!  Here are a few pics:

What Exactly Does the Cray Button Do?

Check out the FF5 boys getting all DubStep and junk.  Seth asks every time this song comes on in the car, "What exactly DOES the Cray button do?"  Now we know!

Just as good as soap...

According to Seth, if you spill orange soda on yourself, you do not need to wash it off, because "Orange soda is just as good as soap." No wonder he is always so sticky...

Warped Tour 2012

We had a blast at Warped, it was def a bit cooler than last year! Here are a few pics:

The Big Board:
Tonight Alive:
Polar Bear Club:
Ballyhoo!:
Amyst:
Lostprophets:I Fight Dragons:
The Constellations:Stepdad:
The Silver Comet:

All the bands were pretty dope, we were super stoked to see I Fight Dragons and Stepdad, and they did not disappoint, Midwest represent :)! Sleeping With Sirens had a ridiculous crowd, I felt like I was at a NKOTB show back in the day, for all the giggly girl screams, but they were pretty good as well. Even Falling In Reverse, who totally needs to give Motley Crue their schtick back, were not too bad. The Silver Comet and Lostprophets were the breakouts for us, didn't know a whole lot about them before the show, but def gonna listen to more from them, check them out!

A Learning Moment with Family Force 5

The acoustic version of "Love Addict" came on in the car on the way to school this morning, and Seth informed me, "This is the second version of this song, the first one is much louder at the beginning." I agreed that was the case, and told him that was because this was the acoustic version. We then had a spirited discussion about the difference between an acoustic and electric guitar, and why bands release different versions of songs. Thank you for a teaching moment, Family Force 5 :)

Dear Escape The Fate:

Loved the show this week at House of Blues, but Motley Crue called circa 1986, they want their whole look back. On a different note, Attack Attack!, The Word Alive and Mest were DOPE! Gotta love the boys repping South Side of Chicago. House of Blues was super serial about this one, even got a pat down at the door. Check out some video, courtesy of lovehatetragedy777

Glamour Kills was Pretty Cool!

The Glamour Kills show was pretty good, but holy crap are kids stupid!  There are about 15 signs at the Social that all say if you stage dive, we will kick your ass out.  During the first band no less than 5 kids were stage diving, and all of them were escorted out.  The roadies for the Wonder Years came out and were pushing them back into the crowd to keep them off the stage, and then someone came on stage between The Story So Far & A Loss For Words and told them, stop that retards.  And damn if they didn't just keep it up!  I saw a comment on YouTube that one of them broke their arm.  I have never seen that many people get thrown out of a concert who appeared to be fully sober.

All the bands were pretty good (sold out show), especially Polar Bear Club, A Loss for Words and The Wonder Years.  Super stoked to see ALFW and PBC at Warped this year!  A kid that was crowd surfing kicked the singer for The Wonder Years in the head as he came out of the crowd, and he took it like a champ.  Apparently that is a benefit of being straight edge, when some idiot kicks you in the head, you don't black out, you can keep singing!

Any who, check out this video of The Wonder Years doing "Washington Square", compliments of jasonmfzb.

Trek for Tech 2012

Hey all, check out some pictures from Seth's Trek for Tech this year.  This was a fundraiser for the school to raise money for technology equipment, the kids had to do laps and get pledges for each lap.  Our classes big runner was Joshua with 16 laps!

Surgery for Seth

Seth is having surgery on Monday. Both of his ears are completely blocked,
he is only hearing at 40 to 50% out of both. They are taking out his adenoids and putting tubes in to drain his ears. They are pretty sure that the blockage is the whole problem, and once we fix that his hearing will be back to 100%. Cross your fingers for us that all goes well!

Passafire was Awesome!

The Passafire show was pretty sweet, but I don't think we will be adding the Reggae circuit into our regular rotation. Those songs seem to be awful repetitive, and go on forever and ever. Do I love Ganja weed? Maybe, but you already asked like 5 times, get on with it already. Are they just too high and don't remember? Also, for the record, there is something icky about a white dude rocking knee length dreds. I will say that Passafire may have the hardest working roadie I have EVER seen, he was Johnny-on-the-spot setting up all the gear, he was busing drinks off the front of the stage, and when the bassist knocked over his mic stand in a flashy turn, he caught it before it hit the ground! He was on fire! Here is a pic Randy took, and some video compliments of Renaford91. See if you recognize anyone at 1:29 or so :) Enjoy!

History Revised

I was volunteering in Seth's class today, and they were working on a project for President's Day. They had to write a sentence saying what they know about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. So I am helping my friend Wyatt with his, and I ask him, "What do you want to write about, what do you know about Abraham Lincoln?" He tells me, "Well, he saved the Earth in the great battle." I was like, huh? I ask him, "What great battle?" And he looks at me like I am dim and says, "You know, the great BATTLE." So that's what we wrote :)

Adam says he is probably confusing this with when Cyberlincoln saved the mole people. The history book people need to get on this, I totally missed this in History class!

D.R.U.G.S. was the bomb!

The S.I.N. tour was pretty sweet, Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows put on a GREAT Show!
