What a great race, running through 29 neighborhoods in a GREAT town! Going over the Chicago River 6 times, passing Trump & Willis Tower, going past Lincoln Park Zoo and Chinatown, with tons of screaming supporters all the way! Chicago sure knows how to show the love!
Our times were not quite what we wanted them to be, but we both agree we feel a little less sore after this one than the last. We were able to walk all the way back to the hotel at least, which is more than I can say from the looks of some people. My heart went out to the poor woman on her hands and knees vomiting at the 26 mile sign. We were so sorry we didn't realize until after the race that our fellow runner pal Rich Garand (who kicked our butts) was also here running the race!
Adam was preparing for another kind of marathon. |
Back to the hotel for an excellent dinner at Lockwood Restaurant, where we had the most delicious dinner, all the sweeter with those beautiful medals around our necks!
After dinner, we had to make the walk down the lobby to Potter's, the hotel lounge named for Potter Palmer, the hotel founder. Adam of course had to have their signature Bloody Mary. I went for the Grand Monaco (Champagne with Peach Raspberry Grand Marnier)
That Bloody Mary had a salami/pepperoni/cheese garnish |
